Yeah, you guys: music is a professional trade. If another professional is asking you for shit like this, they’re scamming you. It’s a scam.

Musicians don’t need “exposure”. Amazingly talented musicians DIE in the streets every night from exposure. What young, emerging musicians need is seasoned professionals willing to actually INVEST - invest time AND MONEY - into supporting these artists’ careers.

I have ZERO respect for anyone in any kind of creative field who pulls this kind of shit.

According to Amanda Palmer, the privilege of playing on her Theater Is Evil tour is compensation enough for “professional-ish” horn and string players to join her onstage. The cabaret-punk superstar, who recently broke the high score on Kickstarter, put out a notice on her blog a few weeks ago asking her musically talented fans to volunteer to play dates on her worldwide tour. When it came to payment, she could only promise beer, high-fives, and good times.

Amanda Palmer is actively a terrible person and I seriously judge Neil Gaiman for marrying her.  (Luckily I never liked his writing anyway.)
